Nice photo and nice group. I have a similiar "Mountain Rifle" that is .54 Flint. I read where many Mountain Men used flinters after 1820 because they could find agate for sparks where the caplock guys could not find caps afield.

Anyway. The Lyman Black Powder Handbook used 3F almost exclusively for their .54 loads. My accuracy load is 75 grains of 3F, and patched roundball in my .54 Flinter.
