Thanks for your input. On page 56 of the book, "Cartridges of the World" 9th Edition, it says under the heading ".308 Winchester (7.62x51mm NATO)":
"Historical Notes, Introduced by Winchester as a new sporting cartridge in 1952, the .308 is nothing more than the NATO 7.62x51mm military round."
What differences do you see between the .308 Winchester and the 7.62x51mm NATO?
