RASteele,
The better advice is for him to find something that he ENJOYS to do and can get paid for it because he will be doing it 5 days a week.
Me, I have days when I really like my job and others when I don't. Today is one of the days I don't like it because I have two criminal cases. I was in Court in DC and watched some guy get locked up for a year because he violated probation, and his mother was there at the same time trying to get a restraining order for a year's time. It was really sad, and I almost wanted to cry. Of course, the mother didn't need the protective order with him in jail for a year.
Meanwhile, my client who is in trouble for domestic violence is baulking about attending a 22 week, 1 hour a week domestic violence program because it costs $20 per week. My client this afternoon is crying because the only way he can keep his driver's license after refusing a breathalyzer is to sign up for an ignition interlock device, but he doesn't want to pay $50 to have it installed and $65 a month thereafter. Instead, he told me that he is just going to drive illegally. Told him that he would be in a world of hurt if he gets caught because it will violate his probation on the DUI and his license would be revoked for 6 months instead of merely suspended for 4 months. These thing just do not phase these guys.
Sometimes, I wish I were a hunting or fishing guide, or maybe a shooting instructor.
