Tater,

Good luck trying to get an answer from the gas companies. Why is gas $2 in Gainesville an hour from here, $2.50 here, and about $2.80 in Bethesda which is 15 miles from here. It has nothing to do with how much it costs the gas company to supply it, but entirely with what people are willing to pay and how far they will go out of their way to get gas. If the disaparity were much greater between Bethesda and here, people would drive here to fill up. However, there is more money in Bethesda (i.e., richer people) so they charge more than Germantown, and there is more money in Germantown than in Gainesville, so they charge more in Germantown. That is just the way it goes. Kind of like house prices.

Isn't it great that gas prices and house prices are dropping now. Maybe it is because people have finally said enough is enough and we aren't going to run up our debt any more.
