OK, this is a bit off thread, but if you want better gas mileage, slow down a bit. I just got back from a trip to New Mexico in my Ford Explorer 4X4. Normally, I drive the 75 MPH when I make the trip and gas mileage around 19.5 MPG average. On this trip, I kind of bit the bullet and drove at 65 MPH and my mileage was 21.6 MPG, a substantial increase IMHO. The trip took about one hour longer which was not all that noticable.
Anyway, it's something you might want to consider.
