Skeeter,
Thanks for the well wishes and I am sorry to hear about your nephew. That really sucks. I hope you brother and the rest of your family get through this.
I have no idea why people commit suicide, but what sucks the most is leaving loved ones behind to deal with it. I had a meeting with a client earlier in the spring regarding a domestic violence charge that he had and the possible custody battle with his wife over his son. I told him that everything would be okay, and thought he felt that way too. I ended up talking to him later that night by phone. Well, he was staying at his sister's house because there was a restraining order preventing him from staying with his wife and son. First thing on Sunday morning, I get a frantic call from his sister saying that my services were no longer needed because he had killed himself. He hanged himself by the tree in the back yard so that his sister would find him in the morning when she went out for her smoke. His wife went to an Orioles game the very next morning. She even made a friend of mine pay for the death certificate so that he could provide it to the sheriff and spare the child seeing the sheriff looking for his deceased dad. Things are insane sometimes.
Oh yeah, I don't plan on selling anything to finance my kid(s) college education. If I have the money, I will help out. If I don't have the money, they had better have really good grades for a scholarship or they will be getting a loan. Something tells me everything is going to work out.
