stranger!LOL As Elk are migratory, they may be one place today and in a couple of days, 30 miles away. You can do all of your homework and still not even see one.
I go to get out, the kill is a bonus.

FWIW, should you find a private place, be SURE of the acreage....lot of small operators have a small dot of private surrounded by public land. you will be paying for stuff you could hunt for nothing!
