All,

I am not remotely a fan of the news wolves, but if a "media scandal" is what is required here to cause high-ranking heads to roll, then I am all for it.

The issue at this point is not the friendly fire. Fratricide is a terrible and tragic thing, but in the "fog of war" it can and does happen. What is at issue now is the shameless and heartless manner in which the Army went to great lengths to withhold that info from the Tillman family. What really makes it outrageous is the fact that the Army did almost exactly the same thing in Desert Storm in 1991. It came back to bite them in the butt big time then. They apparently learned nothing from the experience.

If you are genuinely interested in the 1991 Desert Storm incident and its relevance to the Tillman matter, I recommend that you go to the link below and read the story. It is a long read, but if your time is limited, pay special emphasis to Part II, which details the aftermath, coverup and the revelation of the coverup. It's a sorry, sordid story that was repeated almost verbatim in the Tillman affair.
