Need fishing license info!!!!

At what age is a fishing license required in your state? Please note your state in your reply so it will help me keep track of what states I have replys for.

Here is the reason that I am asking this question.

Michigan is so far in the hole that they are reaching for any way to get money to keep the DNR afloat. At present the legislature is working on a package of bills to raise license fees. It is needed and been a long time coming. What they originally wanted in one step was pretty drastic..

At present a fishing license is not required until 17 years of age, which looks like will change to 16. There is a $2 "voluntary" license that can be purchased so that a kid can have a license just like mom or dad. This license is not required for them to keep there own stringer of fish.

The bill in the legislature requires this "" Voluntary"" license of a kid to keep the fish on there OWN stringer. They can add there fish to another persons limit that they are fishing with.

The talk is that the DNR wants this to happen because that for every $2.00 license that the make the kids buy will get a return of around $8.00 from the Dingle-Johnson Act moneys.

To me it is not about the 2 bucks. It is about the fact that Michigan is loosing hunters and fishers every year they can not give the future fishers of the state abreak. They are just looking at the bottom LINE$$$$$.

Thanks for listening to my rant and your help.
Tom
