Fed Ex is delivering 2 Springfield Garands and 1 Inland carbine to my front door tomorrow morning. I bought them through the Civilian Marksmanship Program
http://www.odcmp.com/
The Garands and carbine are all "service grade" which is "good to very good" per the CMP. The Garands cost $595 - Field Grade (fair to good) sell for $495. Shipping is $22.95 per rifle.
There will Underwood manufactured carbines available for $565, applications being accepted starting oin Sept 4, 2007 - see the website for requirements and an application form.
The carbine was $495 for service grade - the only grade available. They are now sold out of the Inland carbines, but still have Garands available. They also have some M-1D sniper variants (no scopes) and some partial variants of National Match Garands available for various, higher prices.
I was mainly interested in shooters.
It will be while before I get a chance to get them cleaned up and photos taken - I leave for vacation tomorrow night. Lousy timing, but the wife would kill me if I don't go! Maybe I can take them with me?
