There is an Amdendment above the 2nd Amendment, and it carries a lot of weight. Do we even know whether or not this kid was an avid hunter? Avid is a pretty loose term and might be viewed differently between us and the non-hunting public. Most of us are avid hunters, and when we think of an avid hunter, we probably think of guys that live to get out in the woods/fields/marsh/etc. and hunt 20 to 30 plus times a year. To non-hunters, you might be considered an avid hunter if you hunt once a year and own a gun to hunt with.

Most of us own several guns and we are in awe of one another's collections. However, if a non-gunner owner hears that you own 10 guns, they think you are a wack job.

What this all comes down to is a lack of education in the public. Along with sex education, they should teach gun education. Sex can kill kids through HIV, just as a mishandled gun can.

During the sniper shootings in the DC area, one of the news reporters classified the weapon being used as a .22 rifle. Now, when I hear .22 rifle, I think .22lr, not AR-15. In the end, it was a .22 caliber bullet from a .223 that they were using. Sad thing is that they were using an "assault rifle" that was only being used for sniping. Do you think the public even knows the irony in that? By the way, I am well aware that some AR-15's and AR-10's can be set up for sniping, but I am pretty sure that the public has no clue what the difference in the guns would be and they generally classify "assault weapons" as guns that can kill a lot of people at once?

My solution, have everybody above the age of 21 carry a gun. Require teachers to carry guns. Require the principal of a school to keep an AR-15/AR-10 on hand. See how many people would be willing to do these mass murder type crimes, or any crimes for that matter. In Israel, the military can be seen all over in the middle of the streets with machine guns, and people get along just fine there. I'm not going to go too far down the Israel path because that would result in me posting such a lengthy piece that it would make War and Peace look like a short poem.

At the end of the day, we as hunters would have no cause of action against these news agencies other than to either write a letter to the editor or refuse to watch them. Me, I refuse to watch them. I hardly watch any TV anymore because it is just pure crap. Now that I have a little daugther, I cannot believe the amount of cussing that is allowed on TV at 8:00 and beyond. Our society is a disaster and I'm just waiting for China to invade.
