I have had the S3 IS for about 2 years now and still love it. I went from the 1 gig card to the 2 gig card about about 6 months ago. This allows me to take about 950 pic before card is full. I shoot a lot of pics while camping, fishing, parties or church gatherings, then I can go back and clear the blured or useless shots later. With film you have to be more picky about the shot. If you are shooting an action event outside or in good light inside you will like the Sport mode in the repeat shutter mode. My camera does more than I will ever use and can't imagine what else they could have added to your updated model. Have not read the manual yet ( i'm like that
