I dispatched everything with a 22 short to the head. Only had one skunk ever spray when I did it. And i caught lots of 'em. I got almost as much for a prime skunk fur as a musrat. But I still didn't eat 'em. I sold all the musrat and coon carcasses as I could catch and a possum ever now and then! I sold every snapping turkle I caught too.
I remember getting 75 cents for a musrat or a coon. The hides were much higher. I even got up to 3 bucks for a skunk and 4.50 for a black musrat. Lot of money to a 9-12 yr old kid!!
