I'll go one step further, and add criminal liability to the owners of the corporation that hires illegals if they knew what was going on and I would make it travel upward to a parent company, but only if a certain percentage of the employees are illegals. Maybe 2% would be enough. Kind of hard to hold the owners of Ford completely liable and throw them in jail if one illegal slips through the cracks. Now, if an employer only has 3 employees, how hard can it be to check out all of them.

What really pisses me off is that the SSA records are available to employers, and they can readily check to see if an employee is legal or not. Even though I advise my clients of this, they take the don't want to know approach. I guess they think that as long as they tell the authorities that they had no idea the person was illegal, they will be just fine.

Honestly, there needs to be a crackdown across the board. Using illegal labor makes it hard for the legal employers to compete because the illegals get paid at a reduced rate.
