Some number of years ago... I don't even remember when, 1997 or 98 somewhere there, they was talking about those offshore islands becoming a park. There used to be, or maybe still is, a hunting newspaper run by a couple that covered california and a couple of other states.
They gave me the names of a number of hunting or shooting groups in California that the Hawaii Hunting Association wrote to about what the Park system will do to any non-native animals. Only one group responded to my letter and basically told me that there is no way in the world the park is gonna eradicate anything from any Islands. So... thinking to myself.. "suit yourself big boy" I went back to trying to keep what hunting we have here still here.
Incrementally, they will take away from you from till there is nothing left.
I have a powerpoint presentation about hunting and conservation that in the middle of it, I interjected a little article from the Nature Conservancy that they published in Hawaii. This has escaped our masters here with the Hunter Ed Program in that I didn't highlight the contradictions like I do for class, but it points out just how most of what goes on in the environmental world is just words, not science and they HAVE to be challenged.
Anyone want a copy of this is welcome to it as well....
Aloha...
