Even though Stoeger is owned by Benelli/Beretta, it isn't the same quality gun. One of my law school buddies had one and it shot high all the time. It took us a little while to figure out why he was missing everything when he was hunting with it.
While I love upland hunting with an o/u, I don't think I would pick it for waterfowl hunting. Doubles are just too hard to load in the blind.
In your shoes, with the amount of money you have, I still think I would opt for the Remington 870 or Mossberg 500 as a do everything gun until I could afford to add more guns to the collection. Trust me, I was in your shoes a while ago, and I used a Browning BPS for everything until I could afford my own guns (i.e., the BPS was given to me by my dad on my 8th birthday).
After I could afford additional guns, I found out that the BPS wasn't the optimal gun for any of my hunting needs. In a pinch though, it works.
