As always it is buyer beware online. That being said I have purchased several guns from gunbroker with no complaints. Last year I wanted to pick up a charter arms undercover 5 shot 38 in stainless with the spur hammer. All the local gun shops wanted $400-$560 to special order it. I picked it up new on gunbroker for $265, then paid one of the local gun shops $35 to do the FFL recieve and transfer. That $100 off the best price at the local shops. Nowdays that same shop does more FFL transfers than it does regular gun sales. They aren't complaining as they are actually doing more buisness on average. However since I was about the ninth person wanting a charter pistol the month I got mine they now carry them in shop and guess what they run? Around $285.
Anyway garage sales and gun shows are still great places to dig for that deal. However if you want something specific and your shop is charging out the wazzo to order it, try peeking at gunbroker anyway.

"The gun has been called the great equalizer, meaning that a small person with a gun is equal to a large person, but it is a great equalizer in another way, too. It insures that the people are the equal of their government whenever that government forgets that it is servant and not master of the governed." - 40th President of the United States Ronald Reagan 1911-2004
