Is this an actual wood burning furnace that you are talking about that will heat the entire house. If so, I would probably go for that myself. I have a couple of places that I can get free wood at.
The only reason I hesitate to get a pellet stove is because I would have to pay for pellets. Yes, they are less mess, but I am a cheap skate. That is why I am trying to build a house with wood stoves in the basement and the main floor. Of course, if there is such a thing as a wood burning furnace, then that is the way I would probably go.
