Val, I am the product of state foster parents, sponsors, and homes and while I am sure that there are some loving and well-meaning adoptive parents out there, my own experiences have shown otherwise. I do not know if there have been changes made through the years but the majority of people that I have seen that embark upon these roles are in it with their hands out, looking for the $$$ from the state. The children placed into care are sadly a distant third or fourth (or much lower
I am sorry to hear that Steve. My heart aches when I hear of mistreated children. I have watched Florida's mismanagement of the foster-care program for years....the disdain I feel for that pathetic agency cant be expressed on this site. But I try and make noise every chance I get here.
But I thought the adoption process was more closely monitored than the foster-care program. I was also under the impression that adoption wasnt financed by any entity but the adoptive parents. Thats why this story was so surprising to me.
