I haven't used the rifled slugs for hunting because I have always had a fully rifled barrel and used sabots.

However, your limits should be based upon the accuracy of the load. If you can hit that 8" plate all the time at 1,000 yards, then go for it. Probably cannot be done, but if you could do it CONSISTENTLY, then it would be fine with me. Once you know what the limits are in a non-hunting situation, then you will know what the limits are in a hunting situation.
