The local community newspaper that comes out in my town once a month listed no less than seven car break-ins- all less than a couple of miles from my house.
I added a deadbolt to my garage door and told the wife to ensure that she either stash or preferrably, take her GPS with her when she is not in the vehicle. You absolutely cannot leave anything of value out in the open in a vehicle or fail to lock your vehicle overnight anymore.
With the current economy, I would expect this type of criminal activity to only escalate unfortunately.
