This bill came up in Maryland in 2007 or early 2008. It ended up being defeated, and pretty quickly. I think the General Assembly decided to nix it once they found out what it would cost to have the ammo imprinted and that the cost would have to be passed on to the buyer.

What I find to be the best way to follow anti-gun bills within specific states is to review the NRA Bullet Points e-mails. They always show me what is pending in Maryland. For several years, an assault weapons bill was in the legislature in Maryland, but after it was defeated 3 or 4 years in a row, they have stopped trying to introduce the bill anymore.

I am hoping that Congress will be smart about this too.
