I'd like to figure out something portable but larger than a backpack stove that would cook stuff at an even temperature. For some reason I eat much better while camping and like to cook meals I'd never bother with at home-- maybe it's because I finally slow down and enjoy the scenery.

But it's not practical to haul in a full-sized bbq or even an hibachi when you're loading everything onto an ATV or a small boat. For the first night of camp I like the idea of grilled steak, and then after that, cooking fresh caught fish. But a campfire is hard to regulate, heat-wise.

So while I wouldn't cook an entire chicken (sorry, fishdoggydog) if I knew how long it would take to cook one in Rancid Crabtree's camp oven I could do the limited math (which is about all I'm capable of) to figure out how l might cook up that perfect baked lake trout stuffed with fresh mushrooms and onions.
