We have a trial going on right now where a father starved his two little kids to death. I sure wish I'd been picked for that jury. No way in hell he'd escape the death penalty. Lock him in a closet just like he did the kids and starve him to death is the method I'd suggest.
It's not unexpected though, at least by me. Back around 1961 I read an article in the Scientific American that had to do with some rats. Now this is going from memory so take it for what I remember it to be.
They took some rats and placed them in an enclosure with a good and continuous supply of food and water. The amounts were a constant, so much food and so much water. Of course as the rats did what rats do and bred like crazy, soon the food supply was no longer sufficient for the rats. Here comes the interesting part. As the population grew, homosexuality became common occurance from some of the rats, rats started roaming in gangs and literally raped female rats on sight whether they were in heat or not. Female rats would kill and sometimes eat their young.
Note the increasing frequency of mothers killing their children, gang activity, and the apparent rise of homosexuality.
Funny thing though, once the population of rats grew too much, disease and starvation elimintated a large portion of the population. Once the population got back to less or equal the orifinal population of rats, all that stopped. When the population climbed back up it started out all over again. I don't remember how many times they let the cycle run through but the upshot of the whole thing was once a population grows past a certain point, irregularities in the pituitary gland start up and the wierd behavior begins.
Just a thought and not making excuses for the guilty.
