Well, it looks as if I answered my own question as a result of a little more surfing. The following URL will take you to a USGS sponsored site from which you can access their maps from several sources:
http://nationalmap.gov/gio/viewonline.html. I tried the link for MapTech Mapserver and, at least for a freebie, it wasn***8217;t bad at all.
