We ended up with commercial radio's with commercial frequencies. We have had good luck with I believe the UFR band. Its kinda like AM radio as opposed to the VFR brand whcih is like FM radio. We can get 5 miles out of these on flat land and maybe a good mile or mile and a half in the timber.

A lot of companies make these. We have a 12 radio's in our group all programed to the same frequency. Make and model vary. Most of us bought a pair. Two things go with me every trip, my gun or bow and my radio.

The ones they sell in Kart and Wally world just don't seem to cut it.
