Idiot Number Eight of 2008

I live in a semi-rural area. ( Weyauwega , Wisconsin ) We recently had a
new neighbor call the local township administr ative office to request
the removal of the Deer Crossing sign on our road.

The reason: 'Too many deer are being hit by cars out here, and I don't
think this is a good place for them to be crossing anymore.

STAY ALERT!

They walk among us...they REPRODUCE...and they VOTE!!!

I live in W.Pa and not wisconsin but found this funny...Fabs, seems with that many deer in your area, lyme could be a problem and the numbers of deer taken don't seem to be hurting the herd..however here in Pa, they wanted to help with deer/auto and had increased the number of doe tags so that in some areas like Allegheny Co. The tag limits are endless..Some say they just want money some say deer/auto is a problem but what happened is they don't do anything about access to the deer in overpopulated areas.(hunters cleaned deer out of areas they had access to)...just the other day my daughter and I spent the whole day hunting Allegh Co gamelands and seen not one deer...but like told by the PGW watch the peoples yards on way out..yep..there stood numerous deer munching right under posted signs...well safety zone area anyhow..but you now can spend days and numerous hours in the woods and not as much as see a tail...When they wanted to reduce the herd, they did..and as I say it wasn't the PGC that thinned them out ..it was the hunters themselves and as stated in above posts, what to do with all the meat..We live on 3 Pa. deer a year and that is all we take.I think the size of deer here in Pa as opposed to say Maryland is about 2x...Some don't even eat them but still take 5 or 6 a year and give to share the harvest..My local butcher said his numbers of processed deer have dropped 1/2 over the past few years..Also info from a professional coyote hunter said tests have shown the 3 or every 4 new born deer are taken by yotes and the yotes have gone crazy here..just got a 70lb that x my yard at 5pm every day..following the turkey trail...what ever they (gov) messes with will change something else..don't let them introduce yotes to your area or let the insurance co get involved ..buy as many tags as hunters as it seems you already do in your overpopulated areas and try to do it yourself as hunters or you will end up like lots of us in Pa ....hunt hard, see nothing, freezor still empty...what to do with all that meat?...Try making other special items from it such as kielbalsa, brauts, breakfast sausages..jerkey..etc etc..Nobody lives on just steaks and burgers...and that I think is why so much is wasted as last years freezor is cleaned out for the new meat...We also had a farmer here that was scared S...less to even plow his fields..wanted deer removed but his 'hunting' neighbors didn't want them shot off.(land posted for miles around this farm)...I had posted in other areas of HC about this..because for some reason, one day a 'hunter' shot out the farmers car window...so he closed the farm..we that use to hunt there know it was the man that would confront us every time we were in that area..said he will stop us from hunting this mans farm one way or another..I sure hate having to buy ground meat from Walmart/sams that might have 500 different cows mixed in the same burger..
