Right now, most of the big boys are going to be nocternal in PA due to large number of people in the woods over the past two weeks (early muzzleloader, rifle, small game, and now turkey tomorrow). It happens every year, which is why I hit it hard the first week or two then wait until November..um yeah that's in 2 days. Why?

Well if you haven't noticed there is more activity here in the past couple days. Some early chasing and I believe even a few does coming into estrus early. Could've been the cold snap we've had. Point is, now bucks are going to be crusing at different times during the day, trying to find a hot doe than a week or two ago (you said "no activity lately") Welp, that's why. Even this week you'll find bucks hunkered down in a brush pile with a doe in hand. It's just a matter of time now, so the more time you put in in the next two weeks the better.

If you want to try scents, have at ya...personally I think it's more about being in the perfect travel cooridore than anything else, right now. A drag may work better. I haven't hunted in a couple weeks and I'm getting dressed as soon as I'm done writing this post to hit the woods early. Tomorrow, I'll be sitting ALL day in the stand hoping to pick up the big boy I'm after. Right place, right time...you can help yourself out by trying scents, but I normally don't get too wrapped up in them. I have horns and grunt calls in hand, and I'm not afraid to use them this time of year. You'll probably get more response out of that than scents.

As to your original question..is it worth the investment? That's you're call, if you use it and you actually get a big buck to come into a scrape you've had a dripper placed over, then yeah probably was...personally, I'd stick to good old woodmanship.
