MtnMike2, Both the 6mm and 6.5mm are great calibers. My son and I both shoot 6mm Remingtons because the case doesn't have to be trimmed as often as the .243 and you are shooting a case that is basically already "improved". Either cartridge, 243. or 6mm are a joy to shoot. I use a 6.5/06 and my son shoots a .264 Win. Both are very accurate, and only about 150 fps difference in velocity until you get to the heavy bullets. I know the .264 is supposed to be hard on barrels, as is the .220 Swift and many others. We seldom find the best accuracy in any cartridge at full throttle and the barrels last just fine.
