Folks, this rider is about $12 a month and is worth it!!!Your company fixes yours and goes after the other guy . Most companies do not advertise it...you gotta ask. (kinda like collision coverage)

That isn't how it works in Maryland. Collision fixes your car regardless of whose fault it was, and then if the other driver is at fault your insurance company will go after them and refund your deductible if they are successful in recovering.

Now, underinsured/uninsured motorist coverage cover personal injury if the other driver is at fault. Let's say that somebody wrecks into me and is at fault. They either have no insurance or the minimum required of 20,000/40,000 worth of liability coverage which is 20,000 per person and 40,000 total per accident. Well, I have uninsured/underinsured coverage that matches by liability coverage of 250,000/500,000. If my personal injury is more than 20,000, I can go after my own insurance policy for the difference between 250,000 and 20,000.

Then there is stuff like PIP and Medpay, but that is a discussion for another day.
