Mr. 16 gauge,

You got it RIGHT from the get go! In 1996, the year I retired from federal service, I went to the Strattford, NH SPCA. They had two dogs I bonded with; a Blue Tick and Yellow Lab and it was $25 per dog to take them to my PA 60-acre farm. I also saw they had two horses that were adoptable for $100 each. Since I have had horses in the past and have a big barn, I filled out papers for the two horses as well as the two dogs. A nice young lad working at the SPCA said he had a two-horse trailer donated with the two horses out back and for $350 he would trailer the horses next day to my farm in tandem with my retirement relocation while I led the way. NOPE!!

The female manager of the Strattford SPCA came into the office in riding togs from riding one of the horses. She REFUSED to allow me to take any dog or horse from the SPCA. I was stunned and asked, "Why?" She said, "Neither horse can leave New Hampshire. Before we allow you to have a dog, we need a signed statement you will NEVER use the dog for hunting." I advised her both dogs were hunting dogs. She said, "We have a policy here that NO dog may ever be used for hunting and no cat can ever be a 'mouser!" I lived in NH for 26 years and wished to adopt four animals and got NONE. SPCA sucks in my humble opinion. SPCA is anti-hunting and politically active far beyond finding homes for abandoned animals.

In 2005, here in PA we found a nice young dog (age 3 months) and adopted her out of the Wellsboro, PA SPCA shelter. On the day I picked up Lori dog, I asked the fat slob and hostile clerk who took my $75.00 check, "Has this dog (which had resided in SPCA Wellsboro for 3 weeks) had a rabies shot?" She said, "How would I know?" I advised it was very unusual for animal control folks not to ensure all resident dogs on establishment had a rabies shot. I reminded the fat BIMBO that Wellsboro SPCA had four Rabies Clinics per year where rabies shots were given to all dogs present for $3.00 per dog. I demanded my adopted Lori dog be given a rabies shot. Fat Slob hostilly said," Ok, I will give your dog a rabies shot, but it is NOT a GOOD shot, merely a kennel shot!" The dog got the shot and I wrote a letter to the PA SPCA Headquarters in Philadelphia documenting all above and NEVER was given the courtest of a phone call or a written reply. SPCA has an AGENDA that in no way benefits the foster care animals in their custody.

The SPCA sucks and I will never get another dog there. I will NOT give one PENNY to the hostile SPCA Ding Dongs. I experienced their hostility towards folks who want to HELP animals.
