When I get a "new" 22rf I usually get about 10-12 different kinds of ammo and head to the range. Shoot some 5 shot groups and see what ammo does the best for accuracy. I only do this with guns that I will be shooting when I need good accuracy. Sometimes what shoots best will sirprise you.

I do the same thing....as a matter of fact, when I am at the gun shop/sporting goods store, and see a brand I haven't tried before, I'll pick up a box. When I get 4-5 boxes of different types, I'll take them to the range and try them in all my rimfires.
....and your right; you may very well be surprised! I bought some relatively expensive standard velocity target rounds (Eley), and they shot patterns, not groups, out of all my rifles. I've done the best with the less expensive "promo" stuff, usually plated bullets do better than none. Out of my firearms, CCI minimag and Federal "American Eagle" rounds have been the most consistant as far as accuracy across the board, so I've stocked up on them.
