PJgunner, I can understand the problem with a 7x57 Mauser. It is still there today. A 7x57 Mauser reamer has a long throat for the 175 grain bullet. I bet if you had tried that bullet (or factory loads that had the 175) you would have found great accuracy. It is a lawyers delight to have a short throat 7x57 and have one blow from the owner putting 175 bullets into it. A long shot - you bet. But most gunsmiths use the standard reamer or mark the caliber line as a short throat. You have to defend yourself.
Yours is a rare situation. The Taurus (Rossi) problem is getting worse - not better. Many shops do not return the firearms for warranty problems because of this. I tell customers to stay away from Taurus and Rossi for this reason.
