There are actually quite a few long trails like that (and, yes, one of them is named the Long Trail
).
Pacific Crest trail, Continental Divide Trail, American Discovery trail, Ice age Trail, and others. A good place to find out about trails and hikers is:

All of those trails depend on volunteers like yourself for trail maintenance, marking, etc.
