Our opening day was last Saturday (10/8)...I usually can't wait for the opener, but I passed this year. Too hot, and the past few years have seen more and more boats on the little lake that I usually hunt. It has officially no longer become fun and is more of a hassle than anything else. I went out squirrel hunting on the 7th, and flushed a lot of wood ducks....I counted 25 in one group, and there were still more getting off the pond that I didn't get to count. Flushed a large group of teal (probably blue wings), and the water levels seem to be up in just about all the areas I checked.
I won't be able to get out again until the end of this month....that's fine; the opening weekend morons will be through, and hopefully there will be a few migrants working this way south that will stop over (permanently!
