Buying a pre 64 mod 70 can be like walking into a mine field if you don't know what you're doing... most are worth at or more than what you're describing $500... scopes, well I personally don't think they add value, whether or not the seller believes they do. It'll probably be an above ok or screaming deal, if it's all original. Some can go more that $1000, but I'm not trained enough to know those $500 differences. If it's a Balfor B scope, probably worth in the range of $70-110, which is why if prefer to deal on gun only and they can keep the scope. Buying guns is like buying a car. Personal preference and all about if you "want" to spend the money for what the seller is asking. I'm not a mod 70 fan, so I'd let it walk even if it was a screaming deal...you may choose to do otherwise. I do like the caliber though!

Scopes... I don't buy used, unless they have a lifetime warranty and can be shipped back to manufacture if they aren't true. But still who wants that hassle? A $100 used scope definitely isn't worth my time, so if I was an interested party, I'd tell the seller, gun only and give me a new price, minus $100
