Yes, long range is interesting. Every windless day is a day for lots of long range shooting. Westerly winds are ok, but the north wind is tough. Last August it was 98 degrees and sunny. The mirage made my gongs "float" in the scopes so bad that I had to give up for the day.
Many friends come by and shoot the 200 and 300 yard targets to dial in their scoped rifles. The local gun club only has a 100 yard range which does not bode well for ascertaining a 300 yard zero.
