Talking Getting in shape in 2010! (New bicycles)

Some of you may have known me long enough to know that I managed to strip 60+lbs off in 2008-2009, but I still have a long ways to go to be "healthy" As another step towards good health (notice I say good health, not losing weight. My goal is good health, period.) we purchased a matching set of bikes yesterday. Just ignore the dust on the bikes, they have been sitting on the racks for sale for several years. They are a pair of Schwinn Point Beach Cruisers. Seven speeds (shimano gears). A woman's, and a man's matching set. Brand new set that look even better with the dust wiped off.

Soon as the weather starts to warm we should be ready to go. I am already spending time adjusting brakes, seats, etc on them.

What are you doing to get healthier?

Neat looking bikes. I like the "old" (classic) style.
I work out four days a week (weights and cardio) at Golds Gym.

Now all you need is one of those colorful Spandex(sp) suits. I'd pay to see that.

All kidding aside, enjoy and stay at it. It will work plus it gives you some time with the bride.

No spandex for this kid, huh uh. We really liked the classic lines on them as well.

I spent alot of time in 2008 in the gyms, but because of all the college kids around who are more interested in oggoling and trying to flirt I gave it up. At some point I offically became and old fart. It ain't a singles club it's a gym, so get off of the rowin' machine before I kick yer hind end up around your shoulders and the gals around here hafta try to figure out which is yer face!

Yep deffinantly an old fart.

While I love the bikes I think I'd pay to NOT see that The bikes remind me of my old beach cruiser I had growing up. As for me, once I get this damn hernia crap sorted out I'll be getting my bike out of storage and riding it as much as I can. Mtn Home is a small enough town that I can ride pretty much anywhere when the weather's nice. Might even get a little trailer for it and use it for grocery shopping. I also love getting up to the mountains for hiking with my dog. I didn't get to do that as much before but, being newly single, I should have considerably more time to myself.

GOB,

Here are some pics of me on my bike. Careful, they involve spandex. I hit the maximum allowed attachments and couldn't include the sprint for 3rd place or the sprint for 4th place.

Congrats on the weight loss. Always better to drop excess lbs. As for me I have officially
lost my mind. I am currently training for the Ky. Derby mini-marathon ( 13 mi. race here in
Louisville in April). Am doing about 15 miles a week to prepare. This is part of the bucket list, hopefully not the last.

Congrats on your weight loss. That is most excellent. Through the winter months I spend alot of time on my cross-country skies. I strap on my rifle for the occasional shot at a coyote or rabbit when we are in the backcountry. Through the spring and summer do alot of hiking which puts us in pretty decent shape for the start of upland bird season and biggame season. Enjoy the bikes. That was a good decision.

I would love to be able to do that. Just go out on some cross country skis with my rifle across my back. That would pretty much be impossible almost anywhere on the east coast.

Had some minor surgery recently - nothing serious, but now getting back in shape. I jog and go to the gym while I'm on the east coast. At home in Colorado, I ski (downhill and cross-country) and snowshoe.

The bikes are cool. I haven't really gotten into biking but I'd like to one of these days. Too many hobbies, not enuff time....

Have never strapped a rifle to my back doing cc as I'm usually on groomed trails where there are other people and I'm being pulled by my huskies.

GOB,

Do they have any good trails or paths to ride on around you? In my area we have a ton of paths and mountain bike trails. Of course, I ride on the road where vehicle drivers usually give me a "talking to" every once in a while. The mountain bike trails are great around here, and the asphalt paths are pretty nice for a leisurely ride but just way too crowded, curvy, and narrow to do 25+ mph on.

Not so much. Most of the "trails" in the national forest here are mule trails that have been torn up by 4-wheelers. Wish they did have a few. But thems the brakes.

Yeah, we cannot have everything in life I guess. You probably have better hunting opportunities than I do. Such is life.
