Deerman, I was not aware Ox Yoke went out of business. I have a stash of their wads on hand to carry me over until another company sells wads. Adam

I sort of make my own, out of old felt hats found at flea markets and such, made a cut out punch , punch them out then soak them over night in a mixture of bee's wax and a couple of other things

I'd stick to the wool felt. The vegetable fiber wads are a thin gasket like material...I use them (.030) ones in my cartridges between bullet and powder. Can't lube them like you can felt.

				Vegetable Wads

Hi Deerman ... I ONLY use the fiber wads anymore. One, although you cannot lube them, though I don't see why you couldn't, you don't need to, they have improved my accuracy over the felt wads somewhat, are way cheaper than felt, allow you to pour powder, tamp the card on the powder, then just push your bullet to the wad without "squishing" things. I have found that accuracy really improves with this technique for me. 2) They are oversized in both my .451 and .504 barrels (.462 and .512 respectively) and bore sized in my .410, and seem to scrape the bore sufficiently that loading is a snap. I'd at least try the Walters or similar wad before you abandon the idea of using them. I use .060 thickness in both of my guns. Aloha... Tom |
