30-30 ammo

Has anyone ever used the PMC 30-30 Starfire ammo or the Remington Extended Range 30-30 ammo and what did you think of them?

My best accuracy with a model 94, long barrel commemorative seems to be handloads with a 165 grain X bullet (no longer offered).

What are your favorite 30-30 loads for deer? Lever action or Contender?

I hunt deer with single shot rifles. My 30-30 is a Savage 219 with a 26" bbl. I have a peep sight on it as old eyes don't do as well with open sights. I handload for it with 130 gr. bullets and 3031. Rifle is accurate, light and easy to carry.

Back when I lived in Pennsylvania, I used my Marlin 30AS lever action in .30-30 on occasion for deer, and I absolutely loved using it. I just used the Remington Core-Lokt ammo in it. Now that I live in shotgun-only Ohio, my Marlin doesn;t get used as much, but it still gets range time for fun.

Writing this once again reminds me to think seriously about getting back to visit PA to hunt again.

Remington 170gr CoreLokt. Works VERY well, particularly in heavy brush.

I've been shooting the 170 gr CoreLoc myself.
Was thinking about trying out the new Winchester Ammo... has soft ballistic tip so it can be shot in tube magazines. Has anyone tried any of these yet?
Darned if I can think of the name of this ammo

Lone Wolf, do you mean the new Hornady ammo, believe it's called Levermatic, or something similar? Have not tried it but everything I've read says it's good. Also know one person that has used it in the 30-30 and said it was very accurate.

my son swears by Winchester SilverTip 170 grain for his Marlin. I use handloads. Currently, its a 170 grain Speer hot core FP, over 4320 powder.
I shoot this in my Marlin 336Y with the short 16 inch barrel, and in my Savage 170 pump. Its pretty accurate in both rifles, and it kills deer pretty good.

LeveRevelution from Hornady is the ammo with the soft BTs. Shot some for a sight in but they were not as accurate as plain old FN 170 gr. fatocry ammo from Winchester.

Hornandy is the stuff I was thinking of.
I tried a box out this year, unfortuantely, can't say how it performed on game
I did find it shot about 5" higher at 50 yrds and grouped much tighter in my Marlin than the 170gr Coreloks. One group was actually in a 1" size, with a keyhole involved. I liked the way it shot, just never got a chance to try a live action.
