Russian pellet hunting rifles?
Saw these a few years back at a gun show 22 caliber if I remember. Wood stocks, break action. Anybody know where you can still get these things? Got a lady in town that wants all the squirrels out of her pecan and pear trees before spring.

no wait I did a search on that name and cannot find what I was talking about. These guns had a wood stock and had a tube under the stock (same size or slightly smaller than the barrel) that one of the sellers told me housed the springs etc for the air system on it. Any clue?
GoodOlBoy edited to add I wonder if the darned things are not russian at all. They had a hardwood montecarlo stock and were supposed to shoot a 22 caliber pellet from 800-900 fps. . . . . .

GOB,
Had a similar situation a while back. Lots of squirrels, neighbors wouldn't have appreciated the load noise, settled on a Crosman 760. Never lost a squirrel, shot quite a few before they got smart and started avoiding the area. As a note, the pellets (.177) worked very well, but a long shot was 20 yards...... gd357

hrmmm no I will need a little more than twenty yards. Anybody got a suggestion that don't cost more than a new shotgun?

I prefer goods made in the U.S.A, but the price on these chinese air rifles is hard to beat for a novice air gunner wanting to give the sport a try. Much higher quality than I expected for $20. The sights are a little coarse and I believe the dovetail is an odd size (I still made a cheap wally-world Tasco fit on with no problems). It sure aint pretty, either. But it does perform. Relatively accurate, and 900fps. That will ruin a squirrel's day. I am not an airgun expert, but I think you will be pleased with the performance for the price. Good luck with whatever you choose. |

I got one of those from Cummins also
and mine is a great shooter. The Dovetail is standard for rimfire type scopes, just becareful because the spring recoil will rip a cheap scope to pieces inside.
Anyway mine is .177 cal and would do quite well for squirrels with the right pellets and a well placed shot. I also like to recommend the Aguilla "SUPER" Colibri .22 rimfire ammo. In a decent bolt or lever action .22 rifle they are actually quieter than most springer pellet rifles and work well on squirrels at close range (no more that 25 - 30 yards) CCI also makes a .22 short in a "CB" cartridge that is quiet and effective |

This link will take you to a page that sells the rifle I think you were originally looking for. The price looks right but I cannot speak with any experiance about the critters proformance. (It's down on the lower right hand corner of the page.) ![]() I rather fancy my Chinese Tech force 25 - .22 caliber. This is after finding the right pellet for it. Got it from Compassaco for about $100, a few years back. |

I just bought one of those cumminstool sale china made air rifles. Fun to shoot but you dont get 900fps...shot mine over the chronygraph the day I got it just to see and I got 355 fps. Shoots good though I refinished the stock and put a old 4x Weaver on it and a sling. Works good when I want to shoot but its dark out, so I set up a target in the barn and pellet stopper and I can shoot all night.
