Reports of More Post-Election Depression

In the midst of all the excitement surrounding Thursday’s inauguration comes more news of Kerry supporters suffering from post-election depression.

“Dear Abby" advice columns are filled questions from depressed Kerry supporters, which led to this bit of advice from one write-in shrink: “Don't worry. Many psychologists I've spoken to about post-election depression say those feelings are normal, especially now, with inauguration festivities underway.”

Now, if it seems like this is the first election where the losers took a beeline to the psychiatrist’s couch, we may have discovered the reason why.

OpinionJournal.com reports on a new study that shows a relationship between states that went for Kerry and states that have a high concentration of psychologists. “The ten states (including the District of Columbia) with the highest ratio of psychologists per 100,000 residents, were, with the exception of Colorado, all blue states, which supported John Kerry...The ten states with the lowest ratio of psychologists per 100,000 residents, all were red states, supporting Bush…”

That is hilarious.

My uncle is a flaming liberal and he, his wife, and all his children make regular visits to the psychiatrist, psychologist, and marriage counselor. He and I don't get along very well because his thoughts are way out there.

The farther you get away from Maslow's hierarchy of needs or just enjoying the small things in life, the more time you have to think yourself to death.....good lord Fabro, what is wrong with your uncle?

Well, maybe the inaugeration will pep them up a little tomorrow, or maybe they'll be happy with the new Secretary of State, it looks like Rice will get the job once Kerry & Boxer spew their dissatisfaction.

For some reason, seeing Kerry & Boxer unhappy, makes me a little happier. No shrinks needed for me.

VA,

Don't get me started about my uncle. My grandmother passed away about 9 months ago and he is named as the personal representative of the estate under the will. My mother is the backup. Anyway, the guy hasn't done a single thing after the funeral. I am waiting patiently to see how this thing shakes out, but once the anniversary date comes and goes I am going to file something for my mother to take over the administration of the estate. Utterly insane.

His wife has a lot of money. His father-in-law owns a company that is doing really well. I believe the father-in-law is gifting ownership of the company to his children and grandchildren for estate planning purposes. Well, once my cousins (i.e., his two daughters) found out that they were making thousands of dollars in dividends/earnings a year, they decided they didn't need to study too hard. On top of that, when the first of them turned 16, the mother bought her an Audi TT roadster and she proceeded to wreck it very soon thereafter. Of course, the car was her reward for getting caught with pot.

I guess it all starts at an early age. My uncle took/stole money from my grandfather to buy a Ford Pinto. Now, while I am a Ford man, I wouldn't have bought the Pinto. Anyway, my uncle proceeded to wrap the Pinto around a tree and totalled it. He is a complete mess. He went to the University of Maryland and got a doctorate in liberal arts, or something else rather artsy. However, he has been a Safeway cashier his entire life. He met his wife at the University and I believe she was studying for the same degree. However, she is currently a professor of art at a Washington, D.C. University.

The whole family is a bunch of liberals. I think it pains them to come over my parents' place. Then again, it has pained me sometimes to go over their place and marvel at the art hanging around the house and placed in the lawn.

My wife's whole side of the family are liberals.....no problem, we get along. I think it is because I am more socially liberal than most Repubs. but very strict when it comes to the economic side.

Wink

Fabs
Maybe some of that "art" is salvaged from a wrecked Audi and/or Pinto. It may have sentimental value and provide psycological therapy.

Come to think of it, that might be true. The "art work" in the yard is all made out of metal.

Bush was no sooner sworn-in in the 2000 election when the campaigning started in earnest for the 2004 race. I also am depressed but not from the election results. We need somekind of law to shut up all the candidates until maybe 12 months before an election. I'm sick of the whole damn thing. We deserve better than this. Just one persons opinion. Best wishes.
