9.3 x 62 Mauser
Anybody have any experience with this
round? CZ makes a very nice version of it's American rifle in this caliber with a nice full lenght stock in dark birds eye maple. Gorgeous rifle. |

Never owned one, but there's a discussion of a very similar round in the current issue of "Handloader" magazine.
It's slightly smaller and slightly less powerful than the 375 H&H. It uses a .366" bullet of about 280 grains and launches it at 2400 fps. If that sounds mild to superultramag fans, they should see how reliable it has been on game for decades and decades. It'll shoot through a buffalo or big bull anything from end to end. Oh, the article is about a new wildcat. It's the 350 Rem mag necked up to 9.3. Sounds like a great woods round for big game.

hi
the 9,3x62 has been mooshunters favorit in scandinavia and it is called älgklubba in swedish which means moose hammer . it has a good reputation as mooseslayer. the cartridge was designed för german farmers in german colonial countries in Africa and was used för all manners of games there including the big fives, but in many countries in africa the minimium caliber is 375H&H and 9,3 is no more allowed för the big 5s. Norma,in Sweden and Sako and lapua in Finland are making cartridges in this caliber and in germany it also loaded by RWS. excellent round för moose and grizzly. regards danny |
