For a nice clean load about 1000 fps, my favorite is 5.0 of W231.

Since you're a clay target terrorizer, you can substitute 4.0 of whatever powder you're using for your 12 ga target loads (red dot, clays, etc). You'll get a clean 900 fps load that way.

Use standard primers and a light crimp.

6.5,

My favorite .357 cast 158 grain bullet load is 7.0 grains of Unique and standard primers. A few of my .357s prefer 7.5 grains of Unique. I have used H110 and 296, but Unique gives more flexibility with the charges and standard primers are ok.

Question Standard Primers

Thanks Adam / The use of standard primers I take it keeps the pressure and recoil down?

6.5,

Standard primers will generate plenty of pressure and recoil with Unique, it just seems Unique is easier to light off than some other powders requiring magnum primers. Rocky is our guru on such matters and he can better field the pressures question than I.
