I just recently picked up a new Stainless-Steel G2 Contender Frame (and two barrels). Yes the new Stainless-Steel G2 Contender comes with a new Grip and Forend. Both are Rubber and in my opinion shaped extremely well.

I have been a die hard Contender fanatic and have never bought an Encore because I just didn't like the feel of the Encore compaired to the Contender. Well the new Rubber Grip and Forend for the G2 Contender has changed all that and I actually perfer the feel and shape of the new Rubber G2 Contender Grip and Forend over that of the original Contender.

Not sure if these are the grips you are referring to or not.

I also don't like Wood Grips in cold weather either especially when wearing gloves. They are just too slippery.

I used a buddies Encore this year (well actually two different Encores). One had Factory T/C Walnut Grips while the other had a Boyds Laminated Wood Grip. I learned to hate both of these grips in the cold weather with gloves on.

The new Rubber Grips for the G2 Contender are a totally different story though. To me they almost feel tacky and it doesn't seem to change in the cold either.

I am going to be trying out my new Stainless-Steel G2 Contender with it's Stainless-Steel Super 14 .223 Barrel and 3x12x Burris LER Handgun Scope in the not to distant future in Calling Coyotes. Yep winter hit us as it has dipped below zero this week so it is gonna be COLD and I will be wearing gloves. I guess I'll know more after the Coyote Hunt.
