The Ultimate Yard Sale Special...

Last Saturday I was at my nearby gun club and Marilyn showed up with a gun and lots of requests for help. I looked at the 4-inch S&W .38 Special and saw it had the lanyard loop and the serial # confirmed she had a WWII Victory Model.

Marilyn told me she bought the revolver the prior week at a yard sale in town for $60! Well that one got by me and I am a bit sad. It is NRA VG+ and has the smooth stocks. The gun shot well and functioned flawlessly as one would expect from an old "War Horse."

I go yard saleing every Saturday, but I cannot get to them all. Whatever.

I hate it when that happens

You cannot win them all. If you keep making the rounds one of these days you will get struck by lightning. All the best...

I agree, you can't be everywhere at once, much as we might like to be.

At least your friend got a nice firearm for a _very_ nice price!

Only time I ever got into one like that was about 20 years ago, guy had taken a Ruger 22 totally apart and sold it to me for $10 cause he couldn't put it back together!LOL....I never expect to
find another like that.

Yard sales

Bought a nice Marlin 39A from a guy at a yard sale for 75 bucks last year and turned down a sporterized 1917 Enfield this year at a yard sale. he wanted 200 bucks... but it did have a Tasco on it . Have seen quite a few guns in yard sales out here in Wyoming. They all want way to much though. Lady had a(late 60's early 70's) 700ADL with a 4x bushnell for 400 bucks.. Get a new ADL at Wally world for 425.00

skeet,

I hear you. There are many guns at yard sales and some are priced low and some are junk and priced very high. I stopped at a yard sale last year and the front yard picnic table had rifles and shotguns laid cross ways the entire length of the table. ALL were charred-looking and were rusted like I never saw before.

The homeowner said, "$100 bucks apiece, take what you want." I asked about the charred look and the rust and he told me the guns were from his dad's house that burned down and the rust was from the local fire department hoses that put out the house fire.

I moved on since the temper in the barrels and receivers may no longer exist!

Wasn't a yard sale but...

Went to a gun auction in Cody Wy today. No REAL bargains(well maybe a couple...but I did buy a Winchester M-12 field gun with a solid rib full choke bbl for 225.00. Small crack in the stock but it'll be pretty easy to fix. The only bargain I really let go by was a full military Krag in exc condition. It sold for 225 also..oh and I bought a new in the box Benelli SBE for 750 bucks and a few other things I couldn't let go by. Just couldn't stand it
