6.5 Carcano
Anyone Got one? and has anyone ever shot this ammo out of one
http://www.aimsurplus.com/acatalog/6.5_Carcano.html I bought a box at a Gun show because it is the cheapest stuff out there and there is only two other companies I have found Norma and Horandy that sell the "REAL" Carcano ammo, you know the stuff with the round nose and soft tip. Norma Ammo is about $40-$40 a box of $20 and the Hornandy I can get for $16 for 20 rounds. This other stuff is Less than $10 a box but it has the speer tip bullet and I don't know if it is going to shoot well out of the Old Carcano Rifle I have and I haven't gotten the chance to take it to the range yet. Anyone have any info on whether a Carcano 6.5 shoots the pointed bullets with any degree of accuracy?? |

DaMadman,
My 6.5mm Italian rifles and carbines shoot a 140 grain spitzer very well with a charge of IMR4895. I see the ammo listed in your link is Full Metal Jacket 139 grain spitzers in reloadable brass cases. I would suggest you range test the ammo. I suspect the ammo in the link will shoot very well in your 6.5mm Italian arm. Adam

Got a few 6.5mm rifles and carbines
The ammo looks cheap enough and reloadable. I will see if the local gun shops have it in stock. All the best...

kewl That's what I wanted to here. Have to wait until deer season is over to test it. Our Sportsman's club closes the Rifle range for Deer Season

DaMadman,
Today was rainy and very mild; the temperature at 0800 was 62 degrees! It was the PERFECT day to hunt with my $20 SPECIAL, Read that: Rainy Day Special, "ALPINA STALKING RIFLE CALIBER 6.5MM CARCANO. I stoked the sporterized M91 rifle made in 1943 with carefully made 140 grain spitzers. I went afield, I got wet, but it was a very warm rain akin to May rather than December. At noon, I came home and detail stripped the M91. I dried and oiled the barrel and action. I them put a bit of walnut stain on the stock, reassembled the rifle and like it better than before. I also have an Alpina Stalking Carbine 6.5mm that has a barrel I can unscrew, by hand, and then rescrew as the situation demands. Ya gotta love them 6.5mm Carcano arms. Be well. Adam

well it looks like I should buy up some of those $9.50 a box carcano shells and shoot them up and keep the brass and get into reloading for the 6.5
Not many manufactures that I have found make factory ammo in that Caliber |

I got some from Old Western Scrounger, but as I recall, I paid dearly for them. Suggest you stick to the gun shows or reload your own.
