what wiegh ammo shoots best in your Mosin??

Just curious I have purchased about 6 or 7 different kinds/weights of ammo for that M38 I bought most of it is heavy compared to the light ball ammo I see selling as surplus, most of that I have seen is around the 147 gr area

Most of what I have purchased is in the 170 - 203 grain range

I am wondering if it going to shoot well or will it shoot poorly since is seems as if the rifle was made to shoot lighter bullets.

what Fodder does your Mosin like heavy or light or does it matter

DaMadman,

My various Mosins like 150 grain jacketed bullets ahead of H414 or IMR4895 powder. Some Mosins shoot fine with .308" jacketed bullets and the "long tooth" Russians do better with .311" diameter 150 grain bullets.

I have shot 180 grain bullets in my carbines and rifles, but prefer the 150 grain spitzers for all round shooting. Hope this helps.

Adam
