Angry Help with goatheads

My lawn is almost overrun with goatheads and nothing I've tried seems to work I'm about ready to douse everything with gas, light a match and start from scratch. Does anyone know how to get rid of goatheads without violating local and state fire codes?

Never heard them called that before. When we were kids the folks always called them puncture weed or mexican sand burrs or other names not fit to post here. See even and old dog like me can learn something new.
