Bolt action shotguns

Many years ago, I started collecting surplus military arms because they were $10.00 to $20.00 each and that was all a teenager cutting grass could afford. I still have all of them. Then I moved up to sporting rifles and shotguns and gathered in a pile of them. Handguns were not neglected and neither were muzzleloaders. I bought used guns and never spent very much money on any of them. Over several decades, this activity never stopped. I now have way too many guns.

My latest kick is collecting bolt action shotguns. These can be had for next to nothing from the used gun racks at many gun shops. I prefer the Marlin Model 55 which was the basis for their Model 512 slug gun. Last week, I came across one in like-new condition with a factory installed external choke and muzzlebrake for $79.00. Someday, I will sell one gun a week until the collection is eliminated. So what do you folks collect?

Bolt action shotguns

Was just offered a Revelation 20 ga bolt today(Mossberg made) for 70 bucks. Bought a Springfield o3 today at a yard sale for 175. No not military any more but Bishop stock and a weaver 4x on it. Still worth the price. Have finally found a S&W 41 mag. 4 inch md 57-2. Just wondering how much. initial price is 400 bucks but haven't worked the price down any yet I buy all sorts of guns.... especially if I can make a profit on them in the future as I only sell the ones I really have no use for!

When I turned 13 my Dad bought a Mossberg 16 gauge bolt action shotgun for my birthday. Dad thought semi-autos were too dangerous for teenagers, and was probably right in my case.

I've used it now for 44 years, and it is still in great condition.

Like most of you, I now own many other more expensive guns, but still treasure this first one. With it, I have taken geese, ducks, doves, squirrels, rabbits, pheasants, quail, and crows. Now, I try to take it squirrel hunting at least once a year, and sometime still use it on pheasants.
